Carbon Positive Solutions delivers full turnkey solar PV, battery storage and EV charge point solutions for homeowners and businesses across the North West, from a base at Westhead near Ormskirk.
Who we are
Carbon Positive Solutions is the trading name of CPSL Renewable Energy Limited. It is led by owner Joshua Hough, with an in-house team of around ten covering technical compliance, operations and design.
That structure matters more than it sounds. Renewable energy installation is an industry where projects are routinely passed between a sales company, a design consultant and a subcontracted install crew — and where responsibility gets lost somewhere in the middle. We manage every project from survey to commissioning with our own people, so there is one company answerable for the outcome.
We install Tier 1 panels, inverters and batteries from trusted manufacturers, specified to suit each individual project rather than a fixed package. Our servicing and maintenance work is handled by our own in-house department, including on systems that other companies installed.

- Workmanship guarantee: 2 years as standard.
- Insurance-backed guarantee: provided through QANW, so the guarantee holds independently of us.
- Solar panel warranties: 12–30 years, depending on the panel used.
- Inverter warranties: 5 years as standard, extendable up to 20 years.
- Battery warranties: 10 years as standard.
- Insurance: public and employers' liability insurance held.
Mission and standards
How we decide what good looks like
We are a turnkey installer, which means the survey, the design, the installation and the aftercare are all ours to answer for. That shapes the standards we hold ourselves to.
Design before sales
Every system is specified against the roof, the land or the parking area in front of us and against real consumption data, not a package chosen before anyone visited. If solar or storage is not the right answer for a site, we say so at survey rather than after a deposit.
One team, one line of accountability
Our in-house team of around ten covers technical compliance, operations and design, and our servicing department is in-house too. Nothing is handed to a subcontracted crew who will never see the site again, so there is one company to call if anything needs revisiting.
Certification you can check
MCS certification for both solar PV and battery storage, NAPIT and RECC registration, CHAS accreditation, Part P certification and OZEV approval. Each of these is independently verifiable, and each one carries audit obligations we have to keep meeting.
Guarantees that outlive the invoice
A 2 year workmanship guarantee as standard, backed by an insurance-backed guarantee through QANW so it holds independently of us, alongside manufacturer warranties of 12–30 years on panels, 10 years on batteries and 5 years as standard on inverters, extendable up to 20.
Written, plainly
Surveys and quotes are free with no obligation. You get a written quotation setting out the proposed layout and equipment, typically within 1–2 working days of us holding your bills, full address and postcode. No pressure calls and no expiring discounts.
We look after other people's systems too
Our servicing and maintenance department works on arrays installed by other companies, including ones whose installer has since gone. It keeps us honest about how systems age and what actually fails in service.
