What the survey physically checks

The site visit covers roof orientation and pitch, shading from chimneys, trees, dormers and neighbouring buildings across the day and across seasons, roof covering type and structural condition, available roof or ground space, and the condition and capacity of your existing consumer unit and electrical supply. For commercial sites, we also assess access, scaffolding requirements and any structural loading considerations for larger arrays.

How generation modelling works

We combine the physical survey data, including roof angle, orientation and shading, with local solar irradiance data and your consumption profile to model expected generation across the year. Where half-hourly or historic consumption data is available, we use it directly, giving a far more accurate picture than a flat annual estimate. This modelling underpins any system sizing recommendation that follows.

Variations for different site types

Domestic feasibility surveys typically focus on a single roof with one or two orientations and a fairly predictable consumption pattern. Commercial and public sector feasibility work often involves multiple roof planes or ground-mount options, higher and more variable daytime consumption, and a business case that needs to stand up to internal scrutiny or funding requirements, which our modelling and reporting are built to support.
